Scandal's Bellamy Young: 'Crazy' Path for Olivia, Mellie in Season 5 Finale
Enemies become friends! Scandal‘s Bellamy Young reveals to Us Weekly Video exclusively what’s in store for her character Mellie Grant’s friendship with Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) as the ABC series heads into its season 5 finale on Thursday, May 11.
Young, 46, tells Us that the two women putting their differences aside to bond as they work on Mellie’s presidential campaign — Mellie, of course, is ex-wife to Fitzgerald Grant (Tony Goldwyn), while Liv is his ex-mistress — proves that “life is crazy.”
“We’re both in post-Fitz chapters now, you know?” the Criminal Minds alum says.
“And out of all of that has really come some healing,” the actress continues. “And to see these two formidable women really come to love and trust each other again and lean on each other, it’s been so much fun to play.”
After suffering from “debilitating” migraine headaches throughout her career, Young has teamed up with Treximet, a prescription medication used to treat acute migraines.
Check out the video above to see Young weigh in on what’s next for Olivia and Fitz, along with her take on the “surreal” similarities between the show’s presidential race and the one playing out in real life.
